If you’re a writer working on an article or book manuscript, you’ve been looking at the same words for weeks or months. You’re probably overlooking simple errors as you proofread. Before you put your application in the mail or send your manuscript to an editor, let The Language Artist do a final proofreading and editing.
Levels of Editing
Proofreading:
For writing that is already polished but needs a fresh set of eyes to catch mistakes, this is the service you want. I’ll check spelling, grammar, and punctuation to make sure your material is sharp. If I proofread a hard copy of your document, I’ll use the standard proofreader’s marks (known as “redlining”). For electronic copies, I will use the “Track Changes” option in Microsoft Word®. You may accept all, some or none of the corrections. You’ll receive one copy of your document showing changes and a clean copy with edits. The same markup and delivery method applies to all packages.

Copyediting:
For writing that requires more than standard proofreading, copyediting is the best choice. The copyediting package includes proofreading with a focus on style, word usage, syntax, and overall clarity.
— Rate: $3.50 per double-spaced page
Substantive Editing:
This in-depth editing package includes proofreading and copyediting. I will also fix confusing and awkward sentences and offer suggestions designed to make your document more readable, organized, accurate, consistent, and complete. As I edit your document, I will consider your target audience and the message you want that audience to hear. In addition to the editing, I will provide a one-page critique.
